Franciscan Cultural Centre

(Rietgasse 2, 78050 Villingen-Schwenningen, Germany)

In 1268 the former monastery was founded, then destroyed and rebuilt in the 18th century; in the 19th and 20th century the hospital offered refuge to the poor, the old, the sick, and orphans. In 1982, after reconstruction measures, it was inaugurated as a cultural center.

Franciscan Concert House

With the conversion of the former medieval church, the city of Villingen-Schwenningen created a concert hall in 1982 whose good reputation reaches far beyond the borders of the country. The current series of master concerts is rich in highlights: In the Large Cycle, renowned orchestras and world-famous soloists perform, the Small Cycle is dedicated to an exciting chamber music spectrum.

With a fixed subscription for the Large or Small Cycle, music lovers can secure their permanent place in the Master Concerts and at the same time save over 25% compared to the regular ticket price!

Insider Tip

The Museum Festival marks the annual highlight of the Franciscan Museum. The event always takes place in autumn together with the open for business Sunday. Under a changing motto, a varied program appeals to all senses and offers something for everyone. The entire museum area becomes a festival stage with stations, guided tours and performances - sometimes bizarre, sometimes cheerful, sometimes informative.
